Hydrostatic pressure testing

Hydrotest Services in Saudi Arabia

Hydrotest services in Saudi Arabia for piping, pipelines, pressure vessels and heat exchangers. We prepare and run each test to the approved test pack with calibrated equipment, then drain, dry and reinstate the system so it is ready for service.

Hydrotesting

Proving strength and tightness before start-up

A hydrostatic test fills a system with water and raises it to a pressure above its design pressure, then holds it while every weld and joint is inspected. It proves the system is strong enough and leak-tight before it carries product, and it is required by the piping and pressure vessel codes for new construction and many repairs.

We handle the full sequence: reviewing the test pack, installing blinds and test spades, filling and venting, pressurising in stages, holding and inspecting, and then depressurising, draining and drying. Calibrated gauges and chart recorders give a clear record for your inspectors and any third-party witness.

Flanged joints are a common source of leaks during testing. Because our crews are bolting specialists, our hydrotest services in Saudi Arabia include making up temporary and permanent joints with controlled torque, and any leak can be corrected without waiting for another contractor.

Testing ties in with our other services: test blinds and flanges are made up by bolt torquing, damaged faces found during testing are repaired by flange facing, and lines are dried afterwards by nitrogen purging.

What we offer

Hydrotest services in Saudi Arabia

Everything from test-pack review to final reinstatement, delivered by one crew with one point of contact.

Hydrostatic testing

Testing piping, pipelines and equipment with water to the pressure and hold time set by the code and your specification.

Pneumatic testing

Where water cannot be used, pneumatic tests with the additional precautions and exclusion zones they require.

Test pack preparation

Preparing and reviewing test packs, marked-up drawings, limits, blinds and vent and drain points before testing.

Filling, flushing and venting

Controlled filling with suitable water quality, including low-chloride water for stainless steel systems when specified.

Draining and drying

Dewatering after the test and drying with air or nitrogen to the condition required before commissioning.

Flange management and reinstatement

Installing and removing test blinds, fitting new gaskets and torquing every joint back into service.

How we work

How we deliver hydrotest services in Saudi Arabia

  1. Review the test pack

We confirm limits, test pressure, hold time, isolations and inspection points against the approved procedure.

  2. Set up the test

Blinds, gauges, chart recorder and a relief valve set for the test are installed, and high-point vents are opened.

  3. Fill and vent

The system is filled and air is vented completely, then allowed to stabilise in temperature.

  4. Pressurise and hold

Pressure is raised in stages to test pressure and held while the system is inspected and the result recorded.

  5. Drain and reinstate

The system is depressurised, drained and dried, blinds are removed and joints are reinstated with new gaskets.

Standards and safety

Tests that stand up to inspection

Our hydrotest services in Saudi Arabia follow the same safety and quality controls on every job.

  • Test pressures to the design code, such as ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 and ASME VIII
  • Work to client specifications, including Saudi Aramco SAES-A-004 and SABIC requirements
  • Calibrated gauges and chart recorders with current certificates
  • Relief protection on every test to prevent overpressure
  • Barriers and exclusion zones around the test boundary
  • Test records ready for client and third-party inspector sign-off

FAQ

Hydrotest services in Saudi Arabia: FAQ

What is a hydrotest?

A hydrotest, or hydrostatic test, fills a pipe or vessel with water and pressurises it above its design pressure for a set time. Inspectors check for leaks and pressure drop to confirm the system is strong and tight before it goes into service.

What test pressure is used?

The test pressure comes from the design code and your specification. For process piping to ASME B31.3, for example, it is normally 1.5 times the design pressure, adjusted for temperature. We work to the value in the approved test pack.

Why use water instead of air?

Water is almost incompressible, so very little energy is stored in the system. If something fails during a hydrotest it leaks rather than bursting violently, which makes it much safer than a pneumatic test.

Do you remove the water and dry the line after testing?

Yes. Our hydrotest services in Saudi Arabia include draining the system after the test and drying it with air or nitrogen to the dew point or dryness your commissioning procedure requires.
